It is very rare we take up a cause, and certainly not a political cause. But this time we had to make an exception.

We are having a cup of tea to celebrate the fearless women of Saudi Arabia.

Admonished, harassed and followed, a ginger group of women today took the wheel of cars in defiance of the conservative Kingdom’s strictures about women and driving.

We take our cars, and the freedom and convenience they bring to our lives for granted: Weekly groceries; picking up junior after a soccer match; taking Fido to the vet; getting away for the weekend. Not so our Saudi sisters. Theirs is the only country in world where women are not allowed to drive a car.

So, without further ado, I am celebrating this small achievement with a cup of Baroness Grey Tea. Please join me!
