At the start of every month, we offer you a short list of pleasant activities to consider, some focussed on afternoon tea, some not.
Herewith five suggestions for November 2013.
Summer’s just a memory, the fall leaves are gone, and harvest is in. We’re brightening our days, not to mention organizing ourselves too, with the following activities:
Major holidays are fast approaching: American Thanksgiving, Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, so we have a few tasks on the horizon for November. Make a pot of tea; grab a notepad – electronic or otherwise – and plan you holiday parties – cocktails, lunch, dinner, brunch afternoon tea; plan your guest list, shopping and baking schedules, order the turkey(s) and ensure the holidays will truly be a joy.
And continuing on the holiday theme, now is the time to roll out the wrapping paper and start wrapping your holiday gifts, especially if you followed, however loosely, our To Do’s in September and October. Reward yourself with a lovely cup of tea.
Winter (in our part of the world) has arrived. We are taking winter in stride by scattering lap rugs and other small blankets about the house and by taking tea at home more often. We encourage you to do the same.
Lest we forget: November 11 is Remembrance Day or Armistice Day or Poppy Day and in the USA November 11 is celebrated as Veterans Day. Take two, or more minutes out from your day to reflect and give thanks to the many who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy.
Later in November, we are planning a couple of excursions to attend holiday craft fairs – the best place to acquire beautiful wreaths for our front door as well as last minute gifts and stocking stuffers. Check out the craft fairs in your locality. Support local artists. Small hand-made gifts are always appreciated and they’re unique which means you will never see them mass-produced.
